Schools ANZAC Service

On Friday 24th April, all of the schools in Havelock North got together in the Domain for a combined schools ANZAC service. We had front row seats and enjoyed all of the different performances from the 8 schools.

Newsletter

Hi all

Here is this weeks newsletter.

Reminder: we are going on our trip to the CHB Settlers museum on Thursday. We still need permission slips and money back. Also parents to help transport. I look forward to getting these on Tuesday ahead of a great trip on Thursday.

Thanks,
Miss Newton

Reading at Duart

For our inquiry topic we have been learning all about Communities. We have learnt about what communities are, why we have communities and the different communities we are a part of. The children then thought it would be a good idea to give back to our community! One way they wished to do this was to read at Duart House. Hunter kindly wrote a email to Duart House and asked if we could go up there and read. The response was immediate! They loved the idea. Our first day reading at Duart was on Wednesday 22nd April. The children started in the lounge and then wove through the rest home reading to anyone they could find. They read to a lady who was 92 years old and doesn't leave her room. They also went up stairs and read to people up there "in big soft reclining chairs!" What an experience! When the children got back to school they were bouncing off the walls with excitement. They loved it and really enjoyed meeting the people there.

Here are some photos of us reading at Duart House..

We also learned all about a nurse at the hospital's family history in the war at Gallipoli.

This was such a great day for everyone involved that we have already scheduled our next visit for Wednesday 20th May.

Algebraic patterns

During maths we have been looking at Algebraic patterns and are now moving into algebra equations!

For this lesson we had to create patterns that increased or decreased. We then left our patterns and a friend had to come and find the next three images in the pattern.

Here is some photos of our work:

Can you find the pattern and the next three images in these patterns?
